It’s the event you’ve all been waiting for – a chance to buy plants and seedlings from local gardeners to
help your gardens bloom and thrive through Spring
to Summer and beyond. There will be refreshments
in the Library, good company, a raffle and a bookstall.
On the same morning, the Gardeners’
Association Trading Post will be open for you to buy more essentials for your garden at very reasonable prices. Not to be missed!
All donations can be brought to the library at 9amon the day or on Friday afternoon between 2pm and 4pm. If you need anything collected please leave a message with contact details at the Library and one of the Friends will be happy to arrange this. We would appreciate plants, seedlings, books and raffle prizes.
Protecting our Community Library Sculpture
Working with local police, the Security Camera and Security Light have now been installed outside the Library, focused on the sculpture The Reader. Many of you have enjoyed Bill Sample’s sculpture since its installation. The system now in place will ensure it is kept safe. Sincere thanks to EDA Alarms of Pontesbury who have undertaken the work and borne the majority of the cost, in partnership with FoPL and the Shropshire Library Service.
They trained, they rowed, they made history!
Nearly 200 people turned out to welcome Di Carrington home to Pontesbury. Beaming at the crowds, Di sprang out of the car looking radiant even after her 60-day epic voyage rowing across the Atlantic Ocean. BBC Radio Shropshire’s Johnty O’Donnell covered the event as Di chatted to everyone about her achievement and posed for photographs with community members. Jessica Lawrence and Catherine May had come along as they had heard Di speak about her forthcoming trip at Pontesbury Primary CE School and had keenly followed her progress. They presented her with flowers and champagne on behalf of FoPL. Di thanked the FoPL committee for organizing the event at such short notice. (See pictures at pontesburylibrary.co.uk) If you’d like to make a donation to the team’s charities visit atlanticladies.co and simply click on the Make a Donation box near the top on the left-hand side. Di has accepted an invitation to give a talk in Pontesbury sometime soon. A date is yet to be confirmed, so watch this space!
