A guided talk on the History and Archaeology of the Church

St. John the Baptist Church, tucked away beneath the Long Mynd in the Shropshire Hills presents a quintessential appearance of a small English church in the Marches. However, the recent Myndtown Church project, completed in 2017, has revealed the church to be of historic, architectural and archaeological significance.

As a part of Heritage Open Days 2018, you are invited for a guided tour of the church free of charge. Archaeologist Mike Greene and project manager and local Historian John Burt will be delighted to talk on the project, the conservation, the significance of the church and the finds collected from the building and the graveyard.

Come and ring the third oldest bell in the country that has rang out across the landscape for the past 868 years.

Donations welcome to fund the continued conservation and preservation that such an ancient building requires.
